As the COVID vaccine becomes more widely distributed, there may be opportunities for members of the community to volunteer at vaccination clinics around the state to assist with registration, traffic control or parking. Volunteers with a medical background may also be utilized in the vaccine distribution process or post-vaccine observation area. If you have an interest in assisting your community or the State of Wisconsin, you should register with the Wisconsin Emergency Assistance Volunteer Registry (WEAVR).
WEAVR is a web-based online registration system for Wisconsin's health professional and community volunteers willing to serve in an emergency. WEAVR is developed to facilitate health and medical response through identification, credentialing and deployment of volunteers. WEAVR is part of a nationwide effort to ensure that volunteers are registered prior to an emergency so that they may be properly and quickly utilized. WEAVR is a partnership that integrates local, regional, and statewide volunteer programs such as the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) to assist our public health and health care systems during a disaster.
Please visit https://weavrwi.org/ to learn more or Register Now to be entered in the WEAVR volunteer database. All registered volunteers must comply to a background check and will be contacted directly by WEAVR System Administration if/when opportunities become available. You will then be contacted by the healthcare facility needing assistance to provide you with additional information about shifts, duration of time needed, and other relevant information for you to consider.
